Tony’s BLOG

The first day of the Bodysculpt challenge has arrived and it certainly seems to have captured the minds and the hearts of the BT Community. The excitement is huge, on the forum and the blogs and the numbers involved really just blows me away. I am sure that when Emily and I both discussed having a real dig at Bodysculpt in February, that we didn’t think that Geoff would turn it into this amazing event. In a nutshell, we are pumped and the excitement of the community will certainly help us stay pumped.

The challenge has certainly come at the right time for me. I am starting the challenge weighing 84.5 kilo, which was the weight I was at the October Top 13 weekend. I would like to say that I have been maintaining since then, but reality actually tells me that a few kilos have snuck on from my post Christmas weight. This is my chance to get rid of those pesky last kilos and hopefully carve out some tone and definition.

For the record, this time last year I weighed 109kgs. I made a difference to my life in 2009, using the education BT provides. 2009 was an amazing year for me, and I know 2010 will be also a great year, not just for me but for a lot of people within the BT community.

I just cannot wait to see Emily kick backside in this challenge, and I know that her results and support will inspire me to achieve the best results I can. One of the biggest things that you need, to really have a red hot crack at something like this is to have a great support network. My wife and two great kids are also doing their own BT challenge for the course of the Sculpt challenge. So at home I have wonderful support.

Additionally, Rhys and Jess at work are pumping out the sculpt challenge plus we have a large number of team members (last count 20) who have committed to BT, so work isn’t an issue for motivation and support.

I look forward to keeping the BT community up to date with my challenge and hopefully I will communicate some of the success stories of those support networks around me as well.

Good luck everyone

First day of the challenge and Brisbane wakes up raining. Raincoats on for my 5am walk with my wife. My EPOC session will be in the morning after the walk back from dropping the car in for a service, and then an early evening walk with my wife will round my day out. Scrambled eggs, spinach and some diced bacon for breaky. I will talk in more detail on my food options over the course of the challenge, but I don’t want to bore you so early.

I was good over the Christmas break, but a two week camping holiday in beautiful Yamba, NSW did me in. We camp there with three other close friends and their families and the communal cooking probably didn’t get the BT tick of approval. I am pretty sure that chip sandwiches don’t feature in the Bodytrim handbook. But, the biggest downfall was the traditional campsite 5pm drinks. Funnily enough, these seem to start as early as 2pm most days. And the social side of camping is the reason why we go, so needless to say this is the reason why a couple of kilos have snuck on.

I have spent some of my free time on the BT community and know of a number of Brisbane BTers who are doing the challenge. So I will be following the progress of kimmaree, laura and Bluegirl amongst others. More seem to pop up every day. And I can’t forget the Bodysculpt blokes. The Blokes have got a fun thread happening in the Bodysculpt forum. Brian Stewart, slammer Sam, chugguar Tim, Warren and me tagging along, have created a great little buddy network, focusing on our footy teams. This should be a great thread that will continue to evolve over the challenge. So any other blokes out there, feel free to join. We even have their own cheerleaders (Gina , Kris, Feef & Flossie) who are egging the blokes on for a Bodysculpt Blokes calendar.

For the record, I go by the name of curlyt on the BT forum, so feel free to drop me a line.

These are just the support networks that I have become involved in, there are plenty others out there and one thing I do know about the BT community, that we get out there and support each other. The more you support, the more engaged you become and the better your results. As Geoff says often, pay it forward and this will help maintain your own course.

My stats for the opening day of the challenge.
For the record I am 182 cm.
    Weight -84.5kg
    Waist – 86cm
    Hips – 92cm
    Chest – 98cm
Biceps (Don’t all blokes want bigger guns) 35cm
    Thighs – 54cm
Good luck everyone, and talk to you tomorrow

    Cheers,
    Curly

    Hey Curly,

You’ve done an amazing job on Bodytrim and i cant wait to check in everyday and see the progress you and Emily are making. Your both a real inspiration to everyone! I too have started Bodysculpt today and im totally pumped for the challenge! Im also interested to read about what everyone else is eating from day to day on the challenge. Its nice to get a few different ideas on what to eat just to mix it up and not get bored with eating the same old thing each day. Good luck and keep up your good work! 🙂

    • tonycurl Says:

Thanks Joy, The challenge has been something that I have been looking forward to for a while. My post tonight will talk about my food a little more. Did you check out Chris Cheat Sheet today, some great food ideas on that

Looking foward to checking in with how you’re going for the next couple of weeks.

Hi Curly and its wonderful to have yours and Emily’s (and Geoffs!) enthusiasm so readily available to inspire and motivate us. Thanks so much for doing this, 6 weeks and here we go to a whole new body.

    • tonycurl Says:

Pandora, Everyone having a dig at this is inspiring to me, and if I can help maintain enthusiasm I will be wrapt.

Emily is just a little pocket dynamo, Geoff an absolute legend. We are all fired up in February
      Good Luck

  5. Andrew Says:

    Hi Tony

You’ve done fantastic mate, looking forward to checking in.

Quick question: How are you handling the BS diet, now that you’ve swapped over from BT?

    Thanks

    • tonycurl Says:

The Sculpt nutrition I am looking forward to doing. Prior to today, I was scared to lose my free day, but looking through what I can eat, I feel really comfortable now and actually looking forward to Jumpstart days. Doing BT, I never feel 100% after Free Day, but I don’t think Sculpt nutrition will be an issue. Keep looking at the Blog and if it is an issue, I will talk about how I will cope.

The biggest thing for me is being alcohol free for the six weeks. I had last beers with my mates on Saturday and told them all what I was doing and why, They are already planning the party at the end.

      Cheers

Never in my wildest dreams when I purchased my Bodytrim pack did I imagine that I would get this kind of ongoing support from Geoff and the team. This is simply incredible. Thanks everyone and good luck to all the members of this challenge. 2010 is our year indeed! Everyone… watch out.

    • tonycurl Says:

The BT family is just amazing. There is so much energy at HQ, and the energy from the community is incredible as well.

      Good Luck with your goals

  12. Diana Says:

Wow….. don’t Chris’ cheat recipes look good, can’t wait to try a couple of those cookies. Yum. Hard to believe they are legal. Will definitely make a batch next weekend and let ya’ll know what they taste like.

    • tonycurl Says:

They look sensational, I am not much of a cook, but I’m going to have a dig at cooking them. Might even surprise the wife

    Hi Tony

I need to lose 20 kilos and seeing what you have achieved has given me new incentive.
I am my own worst enemy. I eat my feelings and yet I know I should not be doing it.
I bought the BodyTrim system about 10 months ago did it for about 2 weeks felt fantastic and then sabotaged myself. When I received the email about Bodysculpt I thought pull you finger out and get on with it. I have been doing the BodyTrim system for the last 2 weeks and today have started Bodysculpt. With all of the support I have to succeed.

    Thanks.

    • tonycurl Says:

Great to hear Helen. This may be a six weeks challenge, but I went from 109kg in January last year, to 88 in June after starting BT in mid February. A kilo a week. It is an achievable program, believe in it, believe in yourself and you will achieve

      Good Luck in the challenge

      Curly

  15. Jenny C Says:

Hi Tony, I am embarrassed to say I started today at 98.2 kg. I put on nearly 7 kg over the past 6 weeks, and am hyped up with BS and the wonderful sharing and support of this site. NO MORE CARBS is
my mantra, – works well whilst using the bands – No More Carbs – hold –
No More Carbs – hold. Helps me to keep a slow rythm to my movements.

    • tonycurl Says:

No more Carbs, sounds like one of those bands my young fella listens too. Jenny don’t be embarrassed. You have made a positive choice to join the challenge. Those 7kgs are no match for your mantra

      Cheers

    Tony

Great to see the momentum and support this thing has gained. I can’t wait to start next Monday and join in on the challenge.

Not a computer person but have actually enjoyed being on the forum and reading your blog and other information over the last week.

    Good Luck
    Stewy

    • tonycurl Says:

      Stewy,
Go the Dragons………………hahah. I needed to get that in mate. Our little blokes forum is so cool, glad you are enjoying it and if it helps you become more of a computer person then that is good too. The momentum of this thing is awesome, but we both know Geoff and he does have the ability to generate energy doesn’t he, and that energy is absolutely infectious.

Mate Looking forward to hearing your progress from next Monday, although whether its black or white, or blue or gold shirt that swims on you after the challenge is the question

      Cheers

  17. tonycurl Says:

Well Team, Day One has gone great

. Spot on in fact. Made the steps easily, had some great meals, did a bands workout and now looking for an early night after a protein snack. I have a big day ahead tomorrow, which I will get to in a sec.

Food has been a common topic on the forum, and Chris’s Cheat Sheet today has certainly put the idea on mine. My food for the day was.

    Breaky
Scrambled Eggs with Spinach and Diced Bacon

    Morning Snack
    Three Meatballs

    Lunch
One of my favourites. I whole heap of lettuce and capcicum. I use a Smoked Salmon sachet from the supermarket and just mix it in with the salad. The Salmon is good protein and the juice means I don’t need a salad dressing. Very filling.

    Afternoon Snack
    Tin of Tuna

    Dinner
    Basa Fillet and Steamed Veges

    Late Snack
Will be a BTP protein shake

Tomorrow I have an early meeting up the range in Toowoomba, needing to be there at 7am, so I will be in the car at 5am. This means that I will miss my early morning walk with Sharon, my beautiful wife. We are usually walking by 4.45am and the days that I don’t walk I usually struggle from an energy viewpoint. I will have breakfast before I go and adjust my meal slots accordingly.

I have a little cooler that will be taken with me with my snacks and lunch, along with some water bottles. Only up in Toowoomba for a bit, then back to Brisbane and 4 more meetings around the South-West. Eating in the car? Fun, rest day from bands so just need to comply with meals, snacks, steps and water. AND SLEEP.

It is really amazing seeing people engage in our blogs, and responding has pumped me up even further. I hope everyone had a great first day of the challenge, I know I did.

  20. Annie Slattery Says:

TONY YOU CHAMP!!! I am so bloody excited for this whole thing! I too had my final beers last week and I’m so pumped for the 6 weeks!! I had a very good christmas/new year and blew out a bit so this will be just what i need to get back on track!! I’ve taken the before shots (another bikini – keeping with the theme- haha!) and created a calendar so i can cross off each day with a big high five!!
You are a true inspiration and your blogs show how much you live and breathe (as well all do) the BT/BS life!! You have time for everybody and that is an amazing quality – exactly what motivates people to keep going!! I shall let you know how my first week goes!! xox

    • tonycurl Says:

Annie, I am sitting her just after 4am on Day 2, eating my scrambled eggs with mushrrom, spinach leaves and diced bacon on another web Brisbane morning. I am trying not to think about the drive to Toowoomba that I am just about to do.

This daily blogging will help me stay on track and if I can help others that is great. As for your bikini theme, hi-fives all round in my eyes.

keep going and inspire us all

  22. amber Says:

keep up the pace and show us all how to do it

    • tonycurl Says:

The pace of the leader determines the speed of the pack. The pace and energy that Geoff and Chris have set, determines that we all will continue at full pace. Bringing it on

      • tonycurl Says:

I think I got the quote wrong and it has been bugging me all day. The speed of the leader, determines the pace of the pack

        Ahhhhhhhh. Now I feel Better

  23. Diana Says:

Planning’s the key isn’t it? You have everything ready in your car. A timely reminder for me to be prepared….. ha ha just like a little boy/girl scout, or am I confusing myself…. anyway, I must be prepared each day so that I never find myself without the appropriate snack or meal. And, plan well in advance when and how I will fit in my steps and EPOC.

Well done team, day 1 is over and day 2 is looking just fine. Have a perfectly compliant and terrific day everyone.

    • tonycurl Says:

Planning is certainly the key, When I blog tonight, I will provide an idea of how I have tried to plan best for the six weeks challenge

  24. Melissa Ped Says:

Hi Tony, great to see you posting what you eat each day. Sometimes feel a bit stuck on how to keep the variety happening. Sorry I have to say this “Go the Broncos”! Cheers everyone and keep up the enthusiasm.

    • tonycurl Says:

      THE BRONCOS??????

In regards to variety of food I am a bit of creature of habit. Tins of tuna, are my staple and I keep tins in my office for emergencies.

However in saying that, I am keen to have a crack at some new recipes and stuff, so would look forward to hearing from the community.

  25. Melissa Ped Says:

PS I hope your wife reads this blog, hope my husband would say nice stuff like that about me if he had a blog page.

  26. Tamster The Hamster Says:

Hi everyone, I have great news for ll those people who are either buddy-less, or also for people like myself who just really love making new friends. I have just set up a facebook group called

Body Trim and Body Sculpt Buddies

You can go here as well to meet new people, make buddies, share your stories and motivation and support each other through this journey.

I ws sad to see so many people trying to go the journey alone, so hopefully this will help us all to network and connect. It is only a new group (I just clicked create five seconds ago) so your support would be appreciated.

Come on over and say hello, and tell anyone else who is doing BT or BS at the moment! Cheers

  27. Carolyn Says:

Tony, you and Emily look so great! I have just done 10 weeks of BT and lost 10kg’s so I am so looking forward to some real results over the next 6 weeks with Body Sculpt – IM PUMPED!!
Its so awesome to see everyones comments, it just keeps you inspired and motivated… Looking forward to hearing more of it! 🙂

    • tonycurl Says:

      Caroline,
10kgs in Ten weeks is a great result, no wonder you are pumped. Hit Sculpt hard and those results will continue.

      Cheers

  28. Lisa Says:

    Hi Tony,
Great to read your blog – just a thought to put to Geoff, it might be a good idea if you, Geoff and Emily could put a separate post up just on what you have eaten (or are planning to eat) on a day to day basis – it might just give everyone ideas that they haven’t thought of and keep things interesting.
    Lisa

    • tonycurl Says:

      Lisa,

Thanks and pleased that you are reading the blogs. During our daily posts, Em and I will be discussing what foods we have eaten and in some cases what we are planning for the next day. I will say tomorrow is Jumpstart day and I can already taste the almonds, brazil nuts and walnuts. If you check my blog from last night you will see my food from yesterday. I have copied it here for you as well.

        But you don’t know
Someday you are going to be with me, yes with me.

        In your denim and lace

I can see the Countdown clip now….

  30. tonycurl Says:

Day 2 is almost over. I hope that Day 2 has seen a continuation of your momentum from Day 1. Judging from the forum, we have seen some of the community very glad of the rest day from their bands, please remember not to overdo it, start steady. We still want you going in six weeks time, not sitting back all busted up.

Today was going to be a tough day due to the travel thing, and I was right. But I got there. I really missed my morning walk, but went for a one hour walk this arvo. My food can become a bit routine.
Breakfast was Eggs, Mushys, Spinach and some diced bacon Scrambled
    Morning Snack was Turkey Meatballs
    Lunch Green salad with ham
    Arvo Snack Tin Tuna
Evening meal – me and the kids experimented with some omelets and I cooked a very nice Smoked Salmon Omelet (looked very ordinary, but tasted cool) with some green salad
Evening snack will be a choc risotto ball from Chris cheat sheet yesterday. My Daughter Tayla cooked them up and they smell wonderful….really looking forward to that.

There have been some mentions around the blogs and forums of planning, so this may be a good time to talk about some of the plans that I needed to do to make sure that I am a success in this challenge.

From a work perspective, I have a busy month. I am a Complex Manager with Bunnings and we have stocktake in week three of the challenge. This will mean some long hours, to make sure we get everything counted. Also I have a State Meeting and a State Awards night to contend with. I needed to plan for strategies around these events.

From a sporting side of Curly, Touch footy returns this Wednesday night. Now I enjoy the team and competitive side, and it is fairly easy to say NO to that beer after the game.

On top of this, I have returned to coaching junior rugby league this year, and this kicks off next Tuesday Night the 9th February.

I have obviously needed to plan for these events and to ensure that even with these commitments I get my steps, snacks and EPOC sessions in.

But the biggest area is three major sporting events, where me and my mates traditionally would join forces and share some refreshing ales. The Super Bowl on the 8th Feb, The NRL All-Stars game on the 13th Feb and the Charity Shield Game Dragons V Rabbits the 27th. I am actually attending the All-Stars game (and we all know how good the food is at the football) so I really needed to get into my head how to deal and cope with all of this.

I mapped out my monthly commitments on a Google Calendar to ensure that I can fit everything in. Google actually sends me reminders by email which is good and I believe that they also can send SMS. So by sitting down and mapping out the month, the busy month, suddenly became a month in which I can achieve all my goals and activities.

Tomorrow is my first Jumpstart day, and I am looking forward to full fat Tasty cheese, my almonds, brazil nuts and walnuts. I will be trying a smidge of avocado oil in my lunch time salad as the dressing, so pretty pumped to try new things.

For those interested, you can view my calendar at this web address.
    http://www.google.com/calendar/embed?src=webmaster@thefooty.com

    Cheers Everyone
Hope you all had a great day

    • Tanya R Says:

Thankyou thankyou thankyou , how dumb am I, it was so obvious and I missed it! I have only been planning for the day and not looking longer term.

I found myself getting in my walks & I fitted in my EPOC training, but I haven’t really had a jump start day, I seem to have lost track of the week, and now its almost over, guess who is getting out a calendar to stick on the fridge.

My hubbie, is around the same height as you but weighs about 97kg, you are a great inspiration, he was so glad to see someone he could use as a marker/goal.

      Thanks Curly your a champ.

  31. Helena Says:

Hi Tony and all BTers. Ive been reading all the blogs yours and Emily’s.(you both look good by the way). I got to where you said :everyone having a dig at this is inspiring you and if you can help maintain enthusiasm you’d be rapt: when reading this i found myself with tears in my eyes so i had to walk away and have a bit of a cry. Why was i crying i suppose i was overwhelmed with the support and enthusiasm and decided that im starting my journey by blogging abit about myself. I started Body Trim in march 2009 i was on it then off it on it off it then Body Trim was out and i did that with success but got side tracked and of course put weight back on. At xmas went to Queensland for 3 weeks without my bikini body so to speak, came home and finally decided to check my emails and read about the 2010 challenge so i thought will i or wont i, then got email from Geoff saying he’s not leaving anyone behind, that one got to me so i joined the 2010 challenge took the before photo which i hate,i weigh 79.9kg want to loose 15kg or more. So with the support and all the enthusiasm im ready to kick butt and i hope just maybe my story will inspire someone else out there and that we are not alone in this challenge and we will do this.
thanks and sorry this is a bit long it took a bit of guts to do it.

    • tonycurl Says:

      Helena,
You are an absolute legend and you are exactly what this challenge is about. Geoff is absolutely genuine when he says that he doesn’t want to leave anyone behind, and I can absolutely guarantee that if you were standing next to Geoff when he reads that ( and he will read this), he would be giving you the biggest hug. Geoff is full of energy but gets really emotional reading of peoples journey, and this then drives him to the next level again.

Helena, I know it took guts to write this, I congratulate you for so many things, doing BT, joining the challenge, writing your feelings…..keep going. The big steps early do get easier, and I so look forward to sharing your success when you get those 15kgs off.

      Cheers
      Tony

  32. Wendy Desbrow Says:

Hi Tony, just wanted to say I am really excited about this challenge. I purchased BodySculpt when it first became available but thought the change to nutrition was going to be too hard so put the box aside. My husband and I kept on Bodytrim and have been happy with our results. I am only 2kg and he is 5 kgs for our goal weight.
When Geoff announced the challenge I thought we could not get a better opportunity to loose those last few kgs. The Cheat recipes have also helped with variety as I am not great with creating new ideas for meals and snacks. We had our first session with the bands today. My legs are still like jelly but I definetly know that the sessions are maintainable.
Your blog is a great motivator and look forward to being inspired by others over the next 6 weeks.
    Cheers, Wendy

    • tonycurl Says:

      Wendy,
You and me both baby, I really hear ya. I got Sculpt in late October and spent the next week dissecting it. Watching reading studying. I concluded at the time that I couldn’t lose my free day coming into November(Birthday) December(Xmas) and January (New Years, Holidays and Australia Day). If I am going to do something, I want to do it properly, and that is when I first mentioned it to my fellow Top 13 BTers, that February would be when I would have a real crack. Emily took me up on that and as they say in the classics, the rest is history.

You guys are so close to your goal weight and I can just see both of you smashing through those last pesky kilos and setting new standards for your life, body and mind. I say mind, because it is amazing the inner transformation that takes place when you feel good about yourself.

Keep us up to date and make sure you have your photos ready for the crack at the big bucks Geoff is throwing around.

      Cheers
      Tony

So far, so cool. Just sitting here after breaky on my first jumpstart day, waiting the hour to get into some EPOC. Breaky today was Eggs, Mushys and Spinach (Surprise, Surprise) I added some Full Fat Tasty cheese today YUMMO, and then topped it off with a Protein Shake and Flaxseed Oil (Teaspoon). I usually have a big breakfast, because I have found that my metabolism just roars and one hour after breaky, I am reaching for a protein snack. Mornings is when my body really works.

Sharon (my wonderful wife) got home from a big day at her work after 9pm, and she needed a walk, so I got more steps in yesterday. I love the fact that my wife follows the same lifestyle as me, and our times spent talking and walking are treasured. Sometimes it must look funny as our disagreements can (and do) occur, but in the main enjoyable.

Morning snack will be a palmful of almonds, afternoon snack a palmful of mixed Brazil and Walnuts. I will be adding some avocado oil to my lunchtime salad, and then finishing the day with Open Lamb Burgers with the kids, as Sharon has to do OT again. The kids love my Open Burgers (Just Joking) they roll their eyes and carry on, but they really are the best way to enjoy a hamburger, minus the bun.

EPOC before work coming up and a bit of a normal day (as normal as Bunnings gets)

BT Team, don’t be afraid to post questions and comments and I will try and answer everyone. Come back daily for new posts. I usually log in morning, check again in the afternoon and then spend some time on in the evening, (also get on the forum then as well)

For the record, some of the Bodysculpt Blokes have felt their muscles after their bands sessions and in the words of one “sore but invigorating”

Anyone else feeling this way, as after each session you can almost taste the burn, but Geez it feels good………..Stay pumped Bters

    Cheers
    Curly

    Hi,
I signed up for the challenge a couple of days before start date from the email I was sent not realising that you had to have purchased BS. Unfortunately I am not in a financial situation atm to do so as am about to start uni but did purchase the BT program and started it about 4 weeks ago (weighing 91kg at 162cm tall) and have already seen great results, 4.4kg loss and an amazing 7cm off my waist even though I have had a few slip ups such as not always going for my walk or meeting the 10 000 steps. For now I am going to continue on BT and also follow the blogs in the hope that at some point in the future I can try out the BS system. I am a mum and also doing it alone (both BT and the parenting) so I know at times how difficult it can be to stay on track, but with sheer determination and support from the BT/BS community I feel it is possible. I have given myself the challenge again this month to lose at least another 4kgs but also to give up smoking. Wish me luck!!!

    • tonycurl Says:

      Louise,
Amazing results, well done. You just go girl.

The challenge is a personal chance for everyone to improve themeslves. I know so many people who are tagging with the challenge but hitting BT strong to get the best possible result for yourself. I take my hat off to you for doing what you are doing by yourself. It shows your absolute strength of character, your will and determination to succeed.

Keep going, great results which will only get better. Congrats on the giving up smoking too. Best move I ever made back in 1988.

      Cheers,
      Tony Curl

        Tony,

Thanx for your response. I am feeling good getting stuck into creatin’ a healthier lifestyle for myself.

I’m glad I’m not the only one on BT & it is giving me results so tht has to be a good thing.

My kids have changed what they eat a bit too and have noticed they are also not as hungry as often. It used to be ‘mum I’m hungry’ like every hour, now they eat every 2-3 hours like me. They don’t need to lose weight so they have more carbs than me but I don’t feel left out.

        Well off for my walk

        Louise

    Hi Tony
Funny but my sign on is Curley. When I first saw yours I was wondering who was impersonating me. Hope nobody gets confused if I submit a comment on the forum.
Thanks for your blog – all support and encouragement is appreciated. I started on BT in Feb 08 but fell off the wagon a bit last year and have put back on what I lost plus some. I am now back on BT and have the committment back due to the Challenge.
Q – if I started BT again last week, is it a good idea to start BS next week or is it too soon.

    • tonycurl Says:

Hey Curley. Cool name. Bodysculpt is designed to be the last 10% of the weight loss equation and for those nearing the goal weight, IDEALLY.

However, personally I wouldn’t see too much drama in adding the bands to your BT nurtrition. Just be aware that you will be building muscle and that may confuse the scales and not show the exact fat you may be losing. I hope this makes sense. But the more lean muscle you build the better you’re resting metabolic rate is, so ultimately it must be a good thing, in my eyes.

Many people are saying how good they actually feel after using the bands and I certainly feel heaps better after a session (not sure I would say I feel great doing the shoulder presses) so feeling great would be another reason to do the sculpt exercises with the BT nutrition

      Cheers

  37. Diana Says:

Dat 3 and feeling great. You know what? I’m walking taller! I think it’s because of the EPOC……. Probably all in my head but I’m feeling stronger and slimmer already hehe.
OMG the tasty cheese and almonds are yummy!
Have a good one everybody. You know what else? We’re all gonna look hot at the end of 6 weeks. hehe. I just know it.

    • tonycurl Says:

      Di,
YUMMY and really just what the doctor ordered. I guess the 3000+ people doing the challenge are walking around with their shoulders back, walking tall and feeling good about themselves. We need to keep this feeling.

The hotness of everyone is something I am really looking forward to seeing……..Thanks Di for your positive thoughts for everyone.

      Curly

  38. tonycurl Says:

Well Team, Jumpstart day has come and is almost gone. Can I just say, I had a very ordinary day at work, in fact it was s#&thouse. However the vast difference is that once upon a time, I would have come home and had a beer or three to get over it, nowadays I go for a walk and this enables me to think through some clear solutions. See BT gives you a total transformation.

Not sure if it is my imagination but really feeling some muscle growth in the shoulder and upper arm region. Feeling quite good about this and I reckon we may see some movement in the body fat percentage on the scales this week. I have a set of BIA Scales and Geoff tells me that they may not be as accurate as other methods, so I won’t mention my Body Fat %, however my aim is to reduce this reading by 3% during the challenge.

Touch Footy starts tonight, so a little extra activity certainly won’t hurt, especially with the day I have had. A bit of sweat and possibly some competition may be just what the doctor ordered

    Keeping sculpting crew,
    Curly

  39. tonycurl Says:

Well, back from Touch footy and feeling pretty buggered. Only two reserves…….if you reckon ur legs are wobbly after the water ski squat, try twenty minutes non-stop of touch footy against a team of young pups.

Bit quiet today folks………Day 3 and the posts are slowing? Whats doing people, are we still pumped???????????????? The more you put in, the more you get out.

Get into it, tell me how ur feeling, getting on top of things

    Cheers Curly

  40. Jaime Says:

    Hi curly,

So great to see you and Emily helping everyone out!

Today is my second day, but im confused can you help me?!

After watching Geoffs seminars, and reading through all of the things you can download what is this body sculpt programme he keeps talking about? Im aware of the principals of BT but he’s mentioned working out with a band (I have one of my own anyway) but dont know where I should be finding this info on Bodysculpt nutrition or excercise can you help me? and what is EPOC??

    Thanks heaps!

    • tonycurl Says:

Jaime, Bodysculpt is the progression from Bodytrim and is a prooduct in it’s own right. It is an advanced weightloss program, using simple but effective resistance band exercises as well as advanced nutrition based around a very low carb regime. It removes the free day that is available in BT and replaces this with two Jumpstart days. A jumpstart day, raises your caloric spike by increasing your good fat intake, rather than spiking through carbs as with your free day. It is available to purchase at everywhere where BT is sold, but it is ideally for those nearing their goal weight and looking to lose those last final kilos…..however many are seeing benefits from the program by combining the exercises with BT nutrition.

EPOC stands for Excessive Post-Exercise Oxygen Consumption. By working your muscles through the exercise and to the repitions outlined, your body by way of EPOC, can burn fat for up to 24hrs after the exercise session.

Sculpt is designed as a six week program for increased results.

      Hope this explains it all.

  41. JM2010 Says:

    Hi Tony,
My husband and I are going to be starting our challenge next week on Monday. I’ve just finished watching the DVDs and reading the books so am in a better position to get us organised this weekend for starting on Monday. Will you still be posting blogs for that last week that we’ll still be on the challenge? I feel as though we’re already behind because we haven’t started, but I am still keen to make a true effort for this challenge. I

    • tonycurl Says:

      Jm2010,
I am happy to stay in contact and continue to post as needed. For me the six weeks will be up and I hope to be looking BUFFFFFFFF!!!!! And in that state of mind, I should be more than happy to keep posting. After six weeks it is recommended that you have a week off the exercises, increase your vegetable intake etc.

Remember the planning over the weekend is the key. I actually made sure that I have enough of the good fats for my jumpstart days ready to go for the six weeks.

      Cheers and Good Luck

      Tony

    • Brian Stewart Says:

      JM2010,

I am not starting until Monday the 8th. So I will be on Par with you time wise. You are the only other person that I have seen that is starting at the same time as me.

Perhaps we can keep each other going, particularly in the last week while Tony and the others keep stopping and looking in the mirrors – hahahaha.

I am known as ‘stewy’ on the forum if you are looking for me.

      Good Luck
      Brian Stewart

      • tonycurl Says:

My wife gets up me if she sees me looking in the mirror too often. Seriously I do believe that I struggle to believe its me sometimes………….well thats my story and I am sticking to it

      • JM2010 Says:

Thanks for that Tony & Stewy!! I definitely feel better knowing that I’m not the only one starting on Monday. I was explaining to my hubby that we won’t be eating any carbs come Monday – and I could see his eyes glaze over already!! haha. Although I must admit he has more Will power than me. This will be my time to show him I can resist food too!! haha. The more I read and prepare, the more enthusiastic I’m becoming about starting on Monday!! I’ve got three major projects going on at work but I’m thinking of ways to fit this challenge in and around it. I had a quick look at Emily’s blog and seeing her get up at 4.15am – hmm…sometimes I don’t get to sleep until after 1am, so I might have to give that one a miss. I’ll figure something out though. 5am might be manageable 🙂 Roll on Monday!!!!

  42. tonycurl Says:

Day 4 and I wonder how everyone is feeling.

Woke up slightly sore in the legs from Touch Footy, but the 5am walk has helped me walk that out. Back to a weightloss diet today, jumpstart was good and easy.

I just want to mention the positives of doing your Bodysculpt diary during the challenge. By writing out your food, exercise and walking regime and making comments on how you felt daily, you can come back to it over time and really isolate what did work for you. It forces a discipline that helps you succeed.

I will be back to normal proteien snacks today with a lunch of chicken caesar salad (minus the crunchy bits) and then dinner is looking for a chicken breast fillet with seasoning(not sure which) with some steamed veges.

Not sure about everyone, but the houselhold has gone through a heap of salads, diced bacon, and the like this week with the whole family focused on their own challenge. I love seeing my kids eat right.

    Have a great day everyone
    Cheers

    have a great day!

      Kris,
Jumpstart day was sensational for me and I will cover that off in my blog later on. But can I tell you I feel fantastc. After a normal free day, I feel sluggish inside, but today I feel very vitalised and energetic. In may be just in my head but I think I can see my abs and some muscles growing around my chest……….haha

Kris, Not sure if I felt fuller………certainly felt better, but feeling fuller is a commond thread at the moment with jump start.

    Hi Tony

Sitting here munching on my awesome salad and reading all the blogs at the same time. I too can already see results in 3 days and am loving all of the positive vibes buzzing around at the moment. I only have a few kgs to lose, but am really wanting to get in and blast all the remaining fat wobbly bits away…..and for GOOD i might add. I was doing Bodysculpt last year and had a break over Christmas, so this challenge is absolute perfect timing.
Thanks for giving your time so generously. Answering all of these blogs must take you some time and you are already such a busy man and father.
Jumpstart day is for me today and I am loving my cashews. I didn’t even sneak a couple of mouthfulls last night when I was measuring them out – as I normally would. ANyway feeling great. Feeling pumped and I can’t wait to see what is revealed after these 6 weeks.
    cheers

i bloged on facebook yesterday, started day 4 great did one hour walk at 6.ooam this morning and feeling really good. Cooking the peanut butter biscuits at the moment so looking forward to tasting them at snack time but not sure should i only eat these on jumpstart days?

    Cheers Helena

    • tonycurl Says:

The Peantut Butter cookies, because they contain the crushed nuts, personally I would only have on jumpstart day. I also reckon that after the challenge and back on BT maintanaince, that they may be a weekly treat……just as long as you don’t have too many other weekly treats.

Tell me how they are as I am keen to have a go at cooking them myself

      Curly

      • Helena Says:

Thanks Tony i will keep for jump start days but i did have one this afternoon cos my daughter was running late for an appointment and happened to be right on my 3 hour snack time so grabbed one cos i was on the run now for taste they are ok could be a bit sweeter lol and very filling no way could you eat 2.

        cheers Helena

  46. tonycurl Says:

Just finished dinner of Day 4 (Stir-Fry Chicken and Veges) and looking forward to weigh-in tomorrow morning. It has become a habit to weigh in on a Friday before I let loose a little on free day/s so I will maintain that over the challenge. I will also be taking measurements and photos tomorrow as well to be posted up for Monday.

You know, we talk about what we learn everyday and I need to share this with the BT community. As you know, I jumped back on the Carb Train while on camping holidays in Yamba. I returned from holidays just under two weeks ago. Since then, I jumped back onto BT with vengeance and then obviously the Sculpt challenge this week.

I have felt sluggish inside (I don’t have to spell that out do I?) since departing the carb train, and I don’t reckon that I started to return to my normal self until Thursday 10 days after departure. And another thing. I weighed myself after departure (84.5) great only minor damage 3kg. Did two PO days (84.5) strict BT for remainder of week (84.5) drinks with the boys Saturday (84.5) and then start of the challenge (84.5) A tinsy bit of panic because it wouldn’t shift.

The lesson I believe is about my metabolism. During the carb train holiday and due to the communal eating/cooking snacks pretty much went out the window, slowing my metabolism. Breaky Lunch and a big dinner didn’t stoke the combustion engine of my metabolism, and hence the need for me to crank it back up. Ten Days after and I feel I am returning to some sort of normality, and hopeful of a good performance on the weights and measures tomorrow.

I don’t know if this is scientifically based, maybe when Chris reads this he might answer, but NEXT TIME I need to maintain my PROTEIN snacks at the very least to stop the over-eat of the dreaded carb. Happily I now fly off into 2010 with clear BT 101 guidelines and lifestyle with minor challenges and hiccups along the way. I however have to face next January with a better strategy to ensure the same thing doesn’t happen.

    Maybe I just got cocky.

Can’t wait to get my results tomorrow and cannot wait to share them with you on Monday……………………….Although I am sure you may pick up happiness or dread in my weekend posts.

Hope everyone is still stepping out

    Cheers
    Curly

  47. Melissa Ped Says:

    Hi Tony,

The revving up your combustion engine sounds like a good theory to me. Everyone sounds like they are going really well. I sit here reading all the posts, not sure what to say I want to offer words of encouragement to everyone but am always so scared of saying the wrong thing. Anyway on the lighter side I am really enjoying keeping up with your daily posts and it is great to read about what you eat on a daily basis and your schedule, makes me realise how simple it really is or at least you make it sound simple, but yes it really is simple you just have to believe you can. Only after 2 epoc sessions I am feeling a little on the I can’t move my legs side, but I am sure that will subside. At least I broke my record from my first attempt at BS only did the 1 session and gave up, so I will be pretty proud after I make it through the third one. Happy stepping everyone. Melissa

    • tonycurl Says:

Mel, Thanks for your post. I am finding that doing the blog and my own diary really does keep it simple and ensures that this simplicity keep me on track.

You are doing a great job yourself and the initial reluctance from bodies to enjoy the bands session truly does subside, and is replaced by a great feeling afterwards.

I bet you felt great after your second go and the motivation of improving keeps you coming back.

My young, strapping son was put through a bands session by me recently at a level of resistance about two levels below where I am at. HE STRUGGLED BIG TIME, and now doesn’t laugh at me when I get going on a session. He is also noticing a change in my shoulder/chest and arms session and this is leading him to get more interested in regular scheduling of bands exercising.

So, the real motivation comes from seeing improvement and the belief that it will continue.

      Thanks again for posting
      Tony

  48. tonycurl Says:

Today is Friday and Day 5 of the challenge. I have had my weigh-in and measurements and sit here righting this waiting for the hour to pass for my EPOS session.

Friday is usually the day I catch up with mates for a usually well-earned amber fluid after a torrid week. Today will be different. I have planned a later start for work (due to EPOC after breaky) so I will finish slightly later. I then am taking my son and daughter down to bash golf balls at a driving range for an hour. This activity is relatively cheap and keeps me out of the beer danger zone called BEER O’CLOCK.

Then a quiet Friday night with Sharon, possibly watching a movie. Sharon has planned Tacos with Lo-Carb Wraps for her and the kids and I will be having OPEN Tacos, that is Tacos without the wraps.

A weekend to catch up around the house and the pool is looking…(well Black actually) weeds have popped out everywhere with the rain and the lawn needs a mow. So the weekend activity will be quite busy, and will help me burn more fat.

Breakfast this morning was (yep you guessed it) Eggs/mushroom/baby spinach leaves/diced bacon……….sorry my breakys are boring but I really love my eggs. I will make a commitment over the coming weeks to explore other breaky options as I know that many in the community actually like variety in their menu.

I can’t wait to post on Monday the new weights and measures and I can’t wait to hear how everyone else has gone. If I could just ask to hold back posting your results till the new blog comes up on Monday, so we have them all together.

Have a great day and I will chat over the weekend.

    CheerS Curly

I read something this morning (now stuck on my fridge) that meant something to me so I thought I would share it with all of you in the hope that you will also get something frrom it.

This is to remind you of that trusting child inside you who learned a long time ago that you have to fall a few times before you can walk.

This is to help you remember the light-hearted, land-on-your-feet spirit within you, and never-give-up prizefighter you can be when you want to.

This is to tell you that you’ve got what it takes, it’s been in you all along, just waiting for you to believe again.

If you ever forget, just take a look in the mirror at the wonderful, powerful person staring you right in the face because that’s the you that other’s see, and are inspired by, and love so very much.

    Have a great day everyone!

Louise, Extremely well said. I like that description of never-give-up prize fighter. Just how many people in our BT community is that exact description………………I love reading all the stories, hopes, aspirations and journeys of everyone in BT as this provides me greater strength to keep driving towards my goal.

      Thanks for sharing.

  50. Debbie Says:

    Hi Tony
I am enjoying your blog. I have eggs for breakfast every day too!! I love eggs. I have just started the bands this week for the first time and my legs are killing me. I have been working out at the gym for the past 2 years, but the bands seem much harder, I am only on the lightest weight!! They must be doing something. I keep thinking I must be doing the water ski squat wrong, because the next day I could hardly walk! I am nowhere near 20 reps x 3 on most of the 5 exercises. I am enjoying the challenge and looking forward to the results.

    • tonycurl Says:

Hey Deb………Thats Eggcellent (Sorry I just couldn’t resist). I know when I started the bands in November, I did what most blokes would do and that was go for the heaviest band and rip in. First exercise was the shoulder Press………….I think I got to about 12. So I went back a band, I did less. Went back to Blue……..Got another 12. Went to Baby Red and did 25. I felt beaten, so I agree with you that the bands certainly do give you a great workout. Even now, three months of band exercises down the track I am still only on blue for the shoulder presss and struggle to get through the 3 x30 everytime. I reckon it has something to do with the laws of gravity, our arms are not supposed to be pushed upwards with resistance………………I have bad knees(from my footy days) and I have found that the water ski squats do trouble the thigh muscle (someon will know the correct term) but have found I have less knee trouble. I guess I am building supporting muscle for the joint.

Anyway, great to hear from you and good luck with the challenge

      Cheers
      Curly

  51. Diana Says:

Hi Tony and all the BS Challenge team

Day 5 and the chellenge is going really well for me, in fact I’m really enjoying the very low carb style of eating. I agree with you about the dreaded carb hangovers from the free days, the jumpstart day was fantastic. Just loving this.

I often feel like a drink at the end of the week too so today I bought some Zero Coke and they are chilling in the fridge right now. I will sit down with one later and enjoy one of these for a change rather than a glass of wine. For me, just having something different will feel like a treat.

I’ve been 100% compliant except for dinner being late by 45 mins last night (out at daughter’s house). However, I’m facing a huge challenge next weekend because I have a wedding to attend on the Sunny Coast, as well as a get together with the family the night before. Hmmnn I know there won’t be anything at all suitable for me so I guess I will just have to be a pain in the *rse and bring all my food and snacks along…. and a heap of zero coke. They’re all big drinkers and I would normally join in with the bubbly & wine, but must not weaken and remain strong. To be honest, slim is going to taste that much better than a few glasses of bubbly and will last a whole lot longer. I’ll keep saying that to myself all week leading up….. a mantra!

You know ‘some’ people call me stubborn, well I’ll show them just how. I’m going to stick to BS throughout this whole 6 week challenge (and beyond). I’ve got more than 6kg to lose, probably around 15. My plan is to succeed in this challenge, have a week off the bands, and then do the 6 weeks again. That should do it.

    Have a terrific weekend everyone.

    • tonycurl Says:

      Diane,
I met a wonderful BTer from Brissy called Di, who enjoyed a glass of wine or two. Hmmmmmmmmmm I wonder, I think if I remember rightly, last time we met, you just might have had a couple of wines before at your daughters??????

Di I am glad you are enjoying the challenge and feeling so positive about it. Yes A Freezing cold Coke Zero or a Pepsi Max may be just the thing for me tonight as well. ………………….Have a great weekend and stay STUBBORN. By being stubborn you will achieve your goals.

      Cheers
      Tony

      • Diana Says:

Hehe actually I don’t remember that but it could well have happened. I am the same Diana who did that river walk with you and Laura some months ago. I’m still plugging away…… Like many people here I put a few kilos on over Xmas and now trying to rid myself of those, plus a few more to reach my goal.

Thanks so much for this blog you are so generous with your time and motivation. I hope you realise how much we appreciate it.

  52. tonycurl Says:

I knew it, those powers of the Brissy Bters. Hey Di you missed the Sandgate Walk. Have you heard how Laura is going with the challenge????

How are you finding the bands????? I know with your determination those last couple of pesky kilos are just no match

    Keep in touch and updated

    Cheers
    Curly

    • Diana Says:

      Hi Tony

Yeah I know, I was looking forward to meeting all those BTers at Sandgate…. boohoo. However, I did catch up with Laura again one Saturday which was really nice. You have prompted me to find her on the forum, I should send her a message. I don’t think she is doing the challenge…… she’s well and truly at her goal and certainly wouldn’t want to lose any more weight, she looks fantastic, trim and petite.

Hey, I slept in today too. I will go for my walk later this morning. I have been feeling tired and a little sore from the bands so I guess I needed a little catch up. But…. I’m feeling good and liking that sore feeling because I know it means I’m doing something right.

I love the bands but absolutely hate the shoulder presses OMG! I’m on the red and only doing 2 sets of 15 so far. Blue on all the other exercises and managing 25 reps. Particularly love the squats…. make me feel so powerful and strong, and I can really feel those muscles when I walk now. It’s amazing how they all work the stomach.

The stretches feel so good when you get to them don’t they? I hold for a full count of 30 and enjoy every second!

So another day and feeling completely motivated. My head is in such a place right now that nothing could tempt me to stray. I get like that, just wish I could hold this feeling for a few months hehe.

        Di,

Just another to join the I Hate the Shoulder Presses Club” I expect that on Facebook soon. Certainly the toughest one. Try doing them without the bands, I know that sounds dumb, but it gets your technique right AND is still a tough starting point for most people.

        Cheers

Hey Team , Saturday dawns the “dangers”: of the weekend approach. I feel absolutely great. That feeling of “carb train” sluggishness is gone, I slept in a little today due to it hissing down with rain at normal walk time, and I feel brilliant. No Saturday morning “dustiness” today….Wowo

No prizes for guessing what I had for breakfast…Have a great weekend Everyone

    Hi fellow BodySculpters

If like me any of you have used up your BS diary in the past and want to record your daily food I have prepared a spreadsheet for myself, basically tried to copy the book as best I could. If anyone would like me to email them my Excel spreadsheet just let me know.

I guess the easiest way would be a PM through the forum so I will go there now and post a new thread under Bodysculpt. Sorry, I have no idea how to insert it here, I’m not that computer literate.

  55. Debbie Says:

Hi everyone, saturday dawns and it is a beautiful day in Melbourne. Off for my walk an hour later today. Slept in until 7 am. Loved today’s walk as it is beautiful outside. (did I mention that already?) I had my protein shake with flaxseed oil before my walk and my egg omelete (eggcellent indeed tony) 3 hours later.

i have found my walks do not go so well on an empty stomach, so I have swapped first snack and breakfast around. does anyone else do that Tony?

I am just waiting around for breakfast to digest then it will be the bands. My legs are not as sore today, so maybe I am getting used to them.

I am really enjoying the challenge so far. The jump start days aren’t quite as good as a free day, but how good is it not to have to do a protein day (or 2) afterwards!!!! tonight for my after dinner snack I am having 50 grams of camembert cheese minus the crackers and the wine, I am looking forward to that. I have a bottle of low joule portello soft drink chilling in the fridge to go with that.

I couldn’t figure out how to post my before photos so I sent them to info@bodytrim.com.au. Is that how to do it?

    • tonycurl Says:

Hey Deb, How did you find the Protein Shake with Flaxssed oil. I was a bit worried with mine but absolutely no dramas……..

Sounds like you have the perfect social thing happening, with the cheese and portello. Relax and toast your great start to the challenge

      Cheers
      Tony

      Hi Debbie

Saturday seems to be the day for a wee little lay in hehe we’re all doing it.

I think you submit your before and after photos together with your essay at the end of the challenge. Have a read of the starter pack on the right-hand side of this blog.

Ooooh that camembert cheese sounds wonderful. Have to get myself some of that for next jumpstart day. Hmn

      Have a great weekend.

  56. Debbie Says:

Hi Tony and Diana, thanks for replying. I didn’t find the flaxseed oil in the protein drink any problem. It sounds awful, but you don’t even notice it. have done the bands now and feeling good. hope you all have a great weekend.

  57. Louise Says:

Hope everyone has a great weekend I am off to a Hen’s night shortly sooo looking forward to catching up with my best buddy who hasn’t seen me since I started BT.

I plan to stick to BT 2night but being my free day I may have a couple of drinks, plan to dance my ass off though to counteract extra calorie/carb intake.

    Louise

    • tonycurl Says:

Have Fun Louise and have a great nite. Seems you have a plan to enjoy yourself and increase your activity by dancing your assoff. Well Done and cheers

Off for a few days so best of luck to everyone. Hope to come back and see all your wonderful statistics up here. Take Care

    Hi Bodysculpters!!
I also slept in this morning and didnt eat breakfast til 8.30am. Not to worry! I got my meal timing under control in the end!
Today was my jumpstart day so id been looking forward to that. Its soooo hard to decide what to have for my snacks as there are so many YUMMY things to eat!! Breakfast was poached eggs, bacon, mushrooms and tomatoes. LOL!! I know its a breakfast fit for a king! Haha. Morning snack was 50g of toasted almonds and pepitas in smoked paprika. Lunch was chorizo sausage cut up and pan fried in some olive oil garlic spary accompanying a garden salad. Afternoon snack was two almond biscuits with a coffee. Tea was 3 Lenards chicken sausages(Thai, spinach and fetta and kiev flavours) with broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini and bok choy. Final snack of the day was a bit of a mix because i felt like a taste of everything!! 15g fetta, 15g of almonds and 1 almond biscuit(30g). I really feel quite full after eating on jumpstart days. Cant wait to weigh in on monday and see how im progressing. I hope your all exceeding your expectations for your first week and are kicking some serious ass!!! Lets go guys!!!

    • tonycurl Says:

Joy, Thanks for blogging. My second jumpstart is today and I plan to cook up some of the Almond Cookies. I am not much of a cook, but hopefully do an adequate job and they taste great. It does sound like most of us are eating well.

Sunday should be agreat day, with all that anticipation of everyone sharing their results on Monday.
      Cheers
      Tony

  60. Vanessa Says:

Hi Tony! Thanks for keeping me and everyone motivated! I just have a question – I’m starting the challenge on Monday and as I haven’t done Bodytrim for ages now should I be starting out with the 3 day carb detox like on Bodytrim or just go straight into the Bodysculpt nutrition?

    • tonycurl Says:

      Vanessa,
I will answer this question purely from my own personal views and in light of what I would do..

Depending on two things. If I havn’t done BT for a while (how long is a while?), and gone back to guzzling carbs without limit AND if I have gained five kilos above where I was, I would redo Detox. If you have maintained weight, I wouldn’t worry, If you have kept the basis of BT with just a bit more freedom and havn’t put on the five kilos, then I wouldn’t worry about it.

Ok, that being said, re-doing detox probably won’t do any harm and will re-do your discipline and desire to commit to the challenge. So from a mental viewpoint, it would be good.

So my course of action would be.
      1. Redo Detox IF I havn’t led a BT life for a few months or if I have gained 5 kgs.
      2. If I chose not to, I would eliminate my carb serve of a morning
      3. I would do one normal BT day after detox and then follow with my first jumpstart. (if that doesn’t keep the body guessing, then nothing will)

Stay focusses, keep stepping, don’t sweat the small stuff
      Cheers
      Tony

  61. Tanya R Says:

Well, my husband said he was going to go on this journey with me, a week into the challenge and he has now finally done his first resistance bands workout, I think we have another convert, it took a while but now that he has done one and feels so good afterwards he plans to persist.

I really shouldn’t complain I need the head start, I have lots more weight to loose then he does, and he has been very supportive.

Having had the week head start, and three training sessions under my belt, I was able to laugh at how hard he found it, here was my bloke, who thinks himself quite fit and strong (even though overweight) struggling to get out the three sets of 20 on the lightest band for the wide grip row. Michael has always had rounded shoulders, now we know why, he wasn’t working out correctly to give him the right look. (he said he felt taller after doing his workout – he was probably just standing up straight for a change!)

I hope everyone else is enjoying their workouts and I hope that we are all standing up tall before the end of the 6 weeks. (maybe we should be checking out height as well as our width!

    • tonycurl Says:

Tanya, Great story. I am actually still waiting to put my wife through her first bands session. I can attest that the bands are so much harder than what I originally thought, I used to hate going to the gym with all that testosterone, grunting and heaving and watching their muscles in the mirror. Now I can do MY grunting and heaving and look at my muscles in the reflective screen doors………hah

      Good idea on the height

      Cheers

Hi Tony, My husband and I started our 6 weeks today. Sunday was pretty much spent weighing our snacks and making sure everything was sorted in our fridge and garage. Our alarm went off at 4.55am and I was hoping my husband would say “hit the snooze”, but he didn’t, and we both got up, changed, and hit our EPOC. hehe. Man, I had to change bands three times – started off on yellow, then went to blue, and now I’m on red. I found EPOC very hard for my first ever bodysculpt. We’ve never done Bodytrim and are just hitting Bodysculpt straight, but we are both going to do the six weeks. I even rang him an hour after exercising to make sure he ate his breakfast. I admit too……I’m glad there’s a break in between each EPOC. To STEWY, and VANESSA, and anyone else starting their challenge today – lets go hard. Oh…one more question…am I allowed to have white coffee in between snacks during the day? We had our black coffee just before EPOC & steps but now I’m feeling like I need another one? Can’t wait to see your progress pics after one week on Bodysculpt Tony 🙂

    • tonycurl Says:

Excellent work. I must say however, that YELLOW is the toughest resistance, so starting there may not have been the best move. I started on Black with most of mine (including the Shoulder Press) but that was just me trying to be macho. I have now progress welll, but still struggling through 3×30 Shoulder presses on Blue.

There may be some confusion on the resistance setting seeing that they listed TWO BLACKS in the BS Manual. You will see with the combination bands, YELLOW/BLUE is rated tougher than BLACK/BLUE. So work through the bands in this format : Red-Blue-Black-Yellow.

In regards to white coffee, I personally haven’t had white coffee (or my fave Vanilla Latte) since I started the challenge, preferring black coffee with a dab of cold water. If you have skim milk, I don’t know if it is ideal, but if you do just limit your intake. You should only have 4 caffeine drinks a day.

      Cheers
      Tony

      • JM2010 Says:

Thanks Tony. I stared at the low fat milk in my fridge and then looked at the black coffee and then put the milk away. Figured if I have to have black coffee before EPOC I may as well get used to it now. Plus, I didn’t want to ruin my EPOC training by adding that tablespoon of milk to my coffee. I’ll keep to the 4 max – and try and get water in there instead. I’m definitely going to stick with the red. My hubby is quite big so he thought he should start on the yellow – he changed bands down too on the shoulder press. We’re going to both work our way up with the bands from now. I enjoyed doing the workout with my husband – we’re both talking about what we should be doing and if we’re doing it right – and we’re both planning how to get our 10,000 steps in. So all we have to do now is keep this up every day for the next 6 weeks. All in all – I think we’ve made a good start for our first five hours of day one of the challenge 🙂

  63. Diana Says:

    Hi Tony

I’m throwing my scales out today…. that’s it, I’ve had enough. I’ve just had a brilliant week, stayed 100% compliant and they are reading a gain in both kilos and bodyfat percentage. I don’t believe it.

I did a 6 week stint on BS last year when I first purchased my kit and had terrific results so I know it works well. Those damn scales. I will resort to using other measurements to record my progress for the time being. Now looking around for reliable scales and my research is showing you have to pay for quality.

Although I was first upset with the reading this morning I am not going to let it get to me. I’m still pumped and looking forward to another week of Bodysculpting. I’m on a mission and nothing is going to get in my way. I’ve made up my mind to do this.

It’s raining in Brisbane today (as well as the entire east coast of Aust.) but I’m off on my walk with the brolly. At least it’s cool! I am more careful walking in wet conditions these days. My girlfriend slipped in the rain and broke her wrist and ended up having a plate implanted… eeewww. I tread more carefully now, it’s actually made me a little nervous, but won’t stop me.

Tony, I too use my reflection from a large glass covered picture on the wall in my lounge room when using the bands. It’s useful to check my technique, especially the overhand row….. must keep those elbows up.

    Have a great day everyone.

    • tonycurl Says:

Throw those scales out. I went through a long period where I just didn’t use them. Di, I wouldn’t be too worried. My body fat scales are “crap” and no bigger authority than Geoff told me.

I reckon you built lean muscle last week, you feel better and stronger and totally in control……….I reckon.

When will this rain stop, we walked in raincoats this morning. must look pretty funny

Have a great day and heres to our second week.

  64. Joy Says:

Well guys, Monday morning is here and i got up nice and early(My baby girl decidied she’d wake me up at 5am!!) this morning. Had my weigh in and have lost 1.3 kilos. Im happy with that! Had my sugar free energy drink and then ripped into my resistant band training at 5.45am. Left for my hour work straight after my stretches and came home to a nice egg, bacon, mushroom and zucchini omlette! I have to admit im fairly dissapointed in myself for not reaching my 10,000 steps each day last week, but my new goal for this week is to get up early and get those walks in every morning. Feeling totally “PUMPED” and energised now! Anyway i hope your all acheiving great things so far and good luck for another week of Bodysculpt!! Chow for now

  65. Peg Says:

Good Morning guys yes I to was a bit diheartened by my scale read 1kg,am I being to hard on myself? I still havent received my BS hopefully today.I am still feeling very energised with all the exercise though I am doing my 10.000 steps and a bit more cant wait for my BS to arrive.Have a good week and Thanks Tony and Emily this is a great idea to Blog everyday.Cheers Peg

  66. Deb Boston Says:

You know i agree i am going to try not use the scales (lol yea right )
…even though i have lost 1.7kgs that’s over 10 days… it can be so disheartening at times if they don’t show what you think they should …. i have lost 10.5CM in 7 days ,so that is a good effort and pay off for my 100% effort…will have to go for 110% effort this week lol……..

    Cheers Deb.b

  67. Diana Says:

    Hi Peg & Deb

How about we challenge ourselves to forget the scales for the remainder of the 6 week challenge and only use clothes? Are you up to it? I know I will find this extremely difficult as I jump on the scales first thing every morning, I’m completely addicted. However, I’m willing to try. I’m going to put my scales in the garage right now and for the time being forget about buying new ones too.

When you think about it, it doesn’t matter at all what the scales say, we all know when we are feeling slimmer, stronger and clothes fit better. And, better still, when old clothes are too big LOL. So how about it. Anyone else with me?

    • Deb Boston Says:

      Hi Dianna,

ok i will give it a go ..it will be very hard though . it was took lots of will power to last 10 days !! lol BUT hey what the heck i shall give it my best shot….

  68. LINDA Says:

Hi everyone first week and I’m sooo pleased with myself, lost 3kg and feeling really good, can’t wait for second elesson anybody know when does it come on line..good luck to you all and keep on keeping on you can do it..

  69. Mary Says:

Hi Tony today is my first day of BS. I want to thank you for the hint about how to place the feet one in front of the other whilst doing the shoulder press exercise it has made doing them possible.

    • JM2010 Says:

Hi Mary, I just read your post about one foot in front of the other. That definitely sounds like a good hint!! I’ll be trying that trick on my next EPOC!! Today is me and my husband’s first day at BS too, so good luck to you as well. Cheers.

  70. belinda Says:

thanks for helping us keep on track

  71. Cate Says:

Had a great EPOC session today – pushed myself well out of my comfort zone. The challenge has inspired me to be super compliant – quite empowering as I didn’t think I had this much willpower.
It’s also helped my addiction to nuts. I almost get sick of them on Jumpstart days. I am full all day and have to force myself to have the last snack. This never happened on BT. Now I can leave them alone between JS days…It’s a miracle. Good Luck everyone!!

  72. Kath Says:

    Hi,
My very first go at EPOC sessions and I’m loving it, I haven’t lost any weight either but I know I feel better and have alot more energy. i had my gall bladder removed last year and have subsequently put on 10 kilo’s. Does any one know why this may have occurred, because the doctors seem to think I’m a bit daft and say there is no correlation between the two, well I beg to differ.
I also now suffer from quiet severe sleep apnoea which is a bit of a concern.
So hopefully these issues will improve with this wonderful program.
